FREE FOOD, LIVE MUSIC, AND LOTS OF INFORMATION ON WHY AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES FOR THOSE IN NEED ARE SO IMPORTANT TO OUR COMMUNITY.
WHAT?
~Decade to Doorways will provide information on how residents of Chester County can contact their legislators to voice their opinion on potential cuts to local affordable housing and supportive services programs.
~Postcards will be available for interested residents to write to their legislators at the event. You can easily fill them out and we are more than happy to mail them for you!
WHY?
~Decade to Doorways is hosting a FREE kickoff event to provide Chester County residents with information on the importance of funding for federal programs that assist low-income households and those experiencing homelessness. Our hope is that increased awareness on the importance of these programs will decrease the likelihood of budget cuts. As of now, the funding for these services is under severe threat to be reduced or eliminated.
WHERE AND WHEN?
~Tuesday, August 22. 5PM to ~6PM. Feel free to stop by at anytime!
~Front Lawn of Uptown Theater: 226 N High St, West Chester, PA
Plan to attend. I bring a unique perspective to this issue. I wish to share my knowledge and experiences that very few can bring. I have been homeless, I worked with many organizations in Chester County. I have used most resources available i.e. The Salvation Army, Safe Harbor, OIC, CareerLink, Human Services, Good Samaritan, Orion, SOAR, Act in Faith, Open Hearth, CTI, Church Groups, etc. I have contacts. I have spoken in public at meetings, meet and greets, and fundraisers. I have been featured in news letters by both Safe Harbor and Good Samaritan homeless shelters. I share honestly and openly about my experiences, which provides a face and a name to donators, and builds an emotional and physical connection. I am familiar with the 10 year, Decade to Doorways plan, and I have a few positive suggestions. Finally, I am trusted by the homeless, since I lived, ate and slept among them. I would like to use my time and talents to help others, as I have been helped.
Sincerely,
Tim Frank
