Thanks to everyone who submitted their ballots.
The count will commence on Sunday, and we’ll add in any ballots that come in on Monday and announce the endorsed candidates on Tuesday, 31 August. Mark your calendars — because we will be hosting a Meet and Greet for the endorsed candidates on 7 August. We don’t know who’ll be there yet, because we don’t know how the vote will turn out, but we’ll do our best to have as many candidates from around the county as possible. You’ll be able to meet them and hear them. This will be a free event, not a fund raiser, although feel free to bring your checkbooks, as candidates always need money.
It’s sad that a lack of funding can sink a candidate, but until we get a Congress that will repeal Citizens United….sorry, I digress.
We learned a lot from the ICC endorsement process. First, we had to look up every name individually to get the State Senate and State Assembly precincts. A few mistakes were made, and the people who sent in corrections were very kind in their understanding that it was a Herculean task. Lesson learned – we will be updating our sign-up sheet so new users can input their precincts.
Feedback emails were interesting. I am thrilled that people have strong opinions about what ICC should be doing, and how we do things. I’m going to be covering that information in another post.
Looking forward to seeing y’all on the 7th!
